DUVET: The bedding you most likely sleep under when you’re in a hotel. Think of crisp white sheeting and a fluffy layer in between. Duvets can be made with almost any type of sheeting material (pattern, thread count, color, etc) and designed with embroidery or appliquéd material or a combination! Duvet inserts can also vary between down, down blend or down-like and vary in weight. If you’re a hot sleeper, we suggest a summer weight insert!

BEDSPREAD: A bedspread is custom tailored to a mattress. Upholstery weight fabric is used to fabricate a bedspread and may be quilted in a custom design. A layer of batting is used between the two layers of fabric to create a plush look and add weight and insulation. On a boat, you usually see this type of bedding with piping along the edge of the mattress to give it a clean finish.

COVERLET: Whether matelesse or quilted, this type of bedding is best for a light sleeper that does not want to sacrifice comfort or style. Coverlets are simply elegant however if you’re wanting a tailored look on your bed, this may not be the best option for you.

SKIN: A term most people do not know! Skins have become increasingly popular in the marine industry because of the convenience. A skin appears to look like a bedspread however the mattress is essentially upholstered giving it a tight, tailored fit at all times. When the bed is in use, the fitted sheet goes over the skin along with the top sheet and blanket. Otherwise, the sheets come off and you have a perfectly made bed without putting in much effort. A skin is removable due to a zipper running lengthwise on the bottom of the mattress for cleaning purposes.
